Vintage 90s fans, this one’s for you!
Many agree that the 1990s were the golden age of rom-coms and none was bigger than Sleepless in Seattle starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. Meg and Tom were the quintessential 90s couple, starring in a total of three movies together during that decade: Joe Versus The Volcano (1990), Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and You’ve Got Mail (1998).
If you’re one of the few not familiar with Sleepless in Seattle it’s a story about Sam Baldwin (Hanks) whose wife has passed away. He’s attempting to figure out how to do life without her so, along with his young son Jonah, he relocates from Chicago to Seattle for a change of scenery and the start of a new life. While Jonah misses his mother he recognizes that his dad needs someone in his life so Jonah takes matters into his own hands. On Christmas Eve he calls a national radio talk show, explains his dad’s issue to the host and, somehow, gets his dad to open up to a complete stranger over the air. Thousands of miles away in Baltimore, newly engaged Annie Reed (Ryan) hears the radio show and begins to wonder if her straight-laced fiance is truly the man for her or if it’s this man…who believes in magic.
To celebrate Sleepless in Seattle‘s 25th Anniversary (we know, can you believe it’s been that long?) the modern classic will be coming to select theaters in the U.S. December 2nd and 5th! The event also includes a special introduction with producer Gary Foster and Meg Ryan. It will be such a treat to see an old favorite on the big screen after all these years so, for ticket information to see if it will be coming to a theater near you, visit Fathom Events.
