“Downton Abbey” Creator Julian Fellowes And Elizabeth McGovern Team Up for “The Chaperone”

Fans of Downton Abbey, rejoice! Downton creator Julian Fellowes has teamed up, again, with Cora Crawley, the Countess of Grantham herself, Elizabeth McGovern!

Fans of the hit period drama are eagerly awaiting the return of the Crawleys, this time to the big screen this fall (insert squeal here), and as that seems light years away right now we might just have something else for you to get excited about in the meantime! The Chaperone is an upcoming period drama based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Laura Moriarty. Set in the 1920s it stars Haley Lu Richardson as young, free-spirited Louise Brooks who is leaving her home in Kansas to make it big in New York. Unfortunately, she has to be accompanied by a chaperone and Norma (Elizabeth McGovern) wants the difficult task. The weeks ahead that they spend together on journeys of self-discovery and liberation from their pasts alter their lives forever and prove that one trip can change EVERYTHING.

The Chaperone is set to start its release in the United States on March 29th so, Anglophiles, we will have something to tide us over until the date we’re all waiting for…September 20, 2019!
