What’s not to love about Nashville, Tennessee? We here at Vintage HQ are huge fans of Music City and have found it to be oh so very vintage-friendly! The greater Nashville area truly has something for all vintage lovers so if you’re looking for a fun road trip this fall look no further! We’re highlighting the Nashville area this week and have compiled a list of our “Top 5” current favorites in the categories of shops, restaurants and accommodations just to get you started in your research of this great, southern town! Today we’ll focus on shopping!
One could get lost for days just shopping here! The thrift stores, antique malls and vintage shops are plenty and are second to none. Whether you’re a budget-minded thrifter and love the thrill of the hunt or appreciate others hunting for you and bringing their curated collections to one spot you’ll have no trouble loading up a trunk of treasures in this town!
⦁ Pre to Post Modern: We have to start our list with this vintage shop as it is a Vintage HQ staff favorite! What we love about this shop is the combination of variety and price. It’s such a breath of fresh air to go to a shop stocked full of legit vintage at good, fair prices! From clothes to accessories to old home decor we challenge you to visit this great shop and NOT find something you can’t live without. (2110 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204 www.facebook.com/pretopostmodern)
⦁ Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee (Berry Road Store and Outlet): The Nashville area boasts a plethora of thrift stores and there are several of our favorite Goodwill thrift stores to choose from in this area. When thrifting there’s bound to be a lot of hit or miss when it comes to shopping for vintage/antiques but what we love about the Berry Road location is the sheer size, stock and the fact that it has the Goodwill outlet option (for the truly brave) in addition to the store so go forth and good luck in the quest! (780 Berry Rd., Nashville, TN 37204 giveit2goodwill.org)
⦁ Gas Lamp Antiques: Who doesn’t love a nice, big antique mall? If you’re in the Nashville area and need to go “antiquing” look no further! Gas Lamp Antiques claims to be one of the largest antique malls in Tennessee. The variety here is just delightful. You’ll find all the old books, antiques, vintage jewelry, fine furniture and collectibles you just can’t live without! Another interesting tidbit worth mentioning is that they have a second location less than a half mile down the same street! Just think of how many days you could just wander around these buildings alone! (Gas Lamp Antiques is at 100 Powell Pl #200, Nashville, TN 37204 and GasLamp Too is at 128 Powell Place www.gaslampantiques.com)
⦁ Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee (Franklin): We’ve included yet another Goodwill thrift store in our list as they are pretty great places to shop and this one, we feel, is well worth the hike to the Franklin area. Our staff has found that this particular Goodwill location stands out and tends to generally have higher quality items than your standard thrift store. Stock will vary, of course, but our staff has been quite impressed by this location so check it out and tell us what you think! (595 Hillsboro Rd Suite 301, Franklin, TN 37064 giveit2goodwill.org)
⦁ The Hip Zipper: We’re saving one of our best for last. This is also a Vintage HQ staff favorite! Don’t be fooled by the square footage of this shop. It is absolutely PACKED with vintage magic! We LOVE LOVE LOVE this shop and highly recommend it! It is THE place to go for true vintage clothing, shoes, hats, brooches, handbags…you name it! (1008 Forrest Ave, Nashville, TN, 37206 www.hipzipper.com)
We know we’ve barely scratched the surface of the wondrous options Nashville has for the lover of all things vintage but we hope this list of recommendations can offer a starting point for anyone looking to explore what it has to offer this fall! It’s a stellar town and we look forward to visiting other aspects of what it has to offer so stay tuned and happy hunting!
